Tarasow Films is an independent boutique film production company based in the cultural landscape of Karjaa, and registered in Helsinki Finland, founded in 2007 by producer Joon Tervakari.
Originally established as a post-production house specializing in film editing, the company expanded into full-scale production through its work on commercials, documentaries, branding and fine art.
Today, Tarasow Films focuses on feature films, with a strong passion for artistic documentaries and character-driven drama. Since 2020, it has released two feature films, one documentary and one drama, both of which the company also distributed in Finnish cinemas.
Currently, Tarasow Films is developing two new feature films and expanding its international co-production network, staying true to its ethos: Films Made With Passion.
Joon is a Finnish film producer and founder of Tarasow Films, established in 2007.
He studied editing and directing at Tampere University of Applied Sciences and originally worked as a film editor, building over twenty years of experience across film, TV, fine art, and commercials. In 2012, Joon was nominated for the Finnish Film Award for Best Editing. As a producer, he has also handled the Finnish theatrical distribution of Tarasow Films’ feature films.
His experience across development, production, and distribution has given him a strong understanding of the entire filmmaking process. In recent years, he has focused increasingly on feature film production and internationalization, and has been selected for programmes such as Cannes YNPC (2024) and Locarno Pro’s Match Me! (2025).
Annika is a Swedish-born Finnish director and screenwriter who has also worked as a developer, dramaturg, lecturer, and financial expert in the fields of film, television, and advertising since 2006.
Award-winning author has created and conceptualised successful series for the Finnish audience and has also directed three theatrical films in addition to other artistic work. As a filmmaker, Annika has the power to show even the strangest nuances of the human mind and combine them into natural narration.
As a director, Annika works with fiction and non-fiction films. Her first feature was a documentary Within Limits (2009) that has become one of the classics of Finnish documentaries. Her latest feature fiction was a timeless epoch drama There Will Be Spring (2020), that got its international premiere in Midnight Sun Film Festival in June during the Covid years in 2021.
